Anti-Aging Injectables | Tuscaloosa Medical Spa | Plastic SurgeryPlump Up Facial Contours For a More Youthful You

One of the most common side effects of aging, and perhaps one of the most unexpected, is the loss of subcutaneous fat from the skin of the face, as well as the loss of facial volume that, in youth, gave the face a plump, healthy look. This unwelcome change can, unfortunately, bring about a sallow, aging appearance, as well as lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. While in previous times, the only effective way to address these unwelcome changes was expensive and invasive surgical procedures, recent advances in injectable dermal fillers have revolutionized facial rejuvenation treatments. Injectable fillers are safe, minimally invasive, and highly effective treatments for many of the effects of aging—including replacing lost volume in the cheeks and lips, smoothing out wrinkles, and reducing the appearance of certain types of skin irregularities.

If you’re concerned about wrinkles or lost volume in the face, a consultation at Plastic Surgery of Tuscaloosa can help you decide if injectable dermal fillers are right for you. Our aesthetic surgical center, along with the opulent Spa Belle La Vie, is located in the North River area of Tuscaloosa, where we provide a refined, sophisticated, and discrete environment for your injectable rejuvenation treatment. Our Board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ross Bunch, MD, will listen carefully to your aesthetic needs and develop a treatment plan designed to achieve your desired goals while maintaining a dedicated focus on your comfort and safety.

Injectable fillers may be a good option for you if you’re concerned about:

  • Lines and wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow’s feet
  • Marionette lines, or wrinkles of the mid-face region
  • Thinning or creased lips
  • Shallow, gaunt, and hollow facial contours
  • Recessed scars or other skin irregularities
  • If you’re ready to do something about the visible signs of aging, but are looking for a comfortable non-surgical solution, injectable fillers may be the right choice for you!

Two Excellent Approaches to Dermal Fillers

Many different types of dermal fillers are available today. At our Spa, we’ve selected two of the most reliable, effective options on the market:

    Radiesse®

Radiesse® is an excellent, long-lasting dermal filler that will restore lost volume to sallow contours, as well as fill out the appearance of lines and wrinkles. During your procedure, Radiesse® will be injected gently under the skin using a fine needle, then contoured carefully to provide the optimal aesthetic effect. Because Radiesse® includes a component of lidocaine (a topical anesthesia), it is generally administered without significant patient discomfort. Following the injection, Radiesse® plumps out needed areas with additional volume, and also stimulates your body’s natural collagen production for healthier, more lustrous skin. Over the next 12 months, the compound will be naturally absorbed into the skin, and most patients opt for an annual touch-up in order to maintain the effects.

    Juvederm®

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally-occurring component of the skin, which helps maintain a plump, hydrated, and youthful appearance. Over time, our skin naturally begins to lose HA, causing it to become drier, more brittle, and lose volume. Juvederm® is an injectable filler that replenishes the skin’s HA levels, and restores the healthy, well-moisturized glow of youth. The compound is gently injected under the skin using very small needles, and adds volume and dimension to areas that need it most. Not only does Juvederm® add volume and plump out wrinkles, but it also restores the skin’s naturally-occurring HA levels, thus increasing the skin’s ability to retain moisture. This process also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, speeding up the rejuvenation process and ensuring that your skin regains the natural glow of good health. Juvederm® fillers come in a variety of thicknesses in order to effectively treat a range of conditions, and may optionally include a localized anesthetic for patients concerned with any possible discomfort during treatment. The effects of Juvederm® typically last for 9 months, and can be easily extended with follow-up treatments.
