Reshape Your Body By Permanently Eliminating Stubborn Fat
For those who have struggled with unsightly bulges and pockets of fatty tissue that have proven resistant to diet and exercise, surgical liposuction offers a powerful solution. Liposuction is not a weight loss option, but rather helps you achieve a slimmer, more proportionate body shape. Even individuals who are at or near their ideal weight can still find themselves struggling with stubborn “problem zones” that are nearly impossible to get rid of on your own. Liposuction targets these fat cells, eradicating them for a thinner, more sculpted body contour.
Good candidates for liposuction are in good health and maintain a healthy lifestyle, but are unable to eliminate these problematic stubborn areas of fat. Candidates for surgical liposuction should have the following indicators:
- Excess fat with good skin elasticity
- Localized fat deposits
- Stable, healthy body weight
- Desire for a more proportionate body figure
No matter what you call it—a spare tire, muffin top, love handles, and/or saddlebags—at Plastic Surgery of Tuscaloosa located in Tuscaloosa, AL, we can help you sculpt your “problem zones” to create the body shape you desire. If you have been battling those final inches, let Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ross Bunch use his extensive experience with liposuction techniques to produce the results you’ve been unable to attain with anything else. You can safely and efficiently eliminate excess fat with liposuction as a standalone procedure or combine it with other procedures like a tummy tuck or fat transfer to give you the best possible outcome.
Areas Commonly Treated With Liposuction
Age, gender, and genetics all affect our body’s composition and how it holds onto fat. Luckily, modern medicine now enables us to shape and contour our bodies with helpful procedures like liposuction. Liposuction is appropriate for use on the following areas:
The Liposuction Procedure and Recovery
After a thorough consultation and examination, we can determine the best course of action based on your specific needs and anatomy. Liposuction surgery is performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, very small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas near the target zones. Small, thin tubes (cannula) are inserted into the incisions just under the skin, disrupting the fatty tissue and enabling it to be gently suctioned out. Once the procedure is complete, you will be asked to wear a compression garment to help reduce swelling and aid in helping your skin retract. The incisions are generally left open to allow extra draining of fluid after the procedure, and they heal to be almost imperceptible over time.
You will want to allow 1-2 weeks to recover and bruising and swelling is normal during this time. Swelling will gradually start to fade over the next few weeks and your new, trimmer shape will become apparent. Even though the removal of fat cells is permanent, your new body shape can still be affected by weight gain so you will want to maintain healthy habits after surgery. Dr. Bunch and his team will work closely with you to ensure results that are satisfying and create a contour you can take pride in.
